Able-Ride is a shared ride, door-to-door transportation service.  This paratransit bus service is for those unable to use the fixed route system (not based on age).  There is a modest fee.      516.228.4021
It operates at similar days, hours, and areas as the fixed route system. 
Trips may be for any reason. Paratransit application certified by a healthcare provider is needed.  To download an application:  Able-Ride does not serve in some areas including Syosset and Oyster Bay. Customers can transfer to Suffolk’s SCAT 516.228.4000 or NYC Access-A-Ride 877.337.2017. Call 8:30 to 5:00 to specify date, time, provide ID number, pick-up and drop-off addresses. On the day of the trip, ID card and exact fare are required. There is a 30-minute window for pick-up. The driver may assist stepping into and out of the bus, but cannot carry packages or go into buildings. 

311 or 516.869.6317. Senior ID is necessary, register by calling 516.869-6317.  Non-emergency medical/dental appointments.  Taxi service, door-to-door, 7 days a week.  Rider pays half the discounted Medicaid rate.  Town arranges transport to the appointment. Senior arranges the taxi ride home. Free transportation for food shopping  516.869.6311 or 311. Taxi service, door-to-door, arranged by town to local stores . The food transportation program will be expanding its hours in response to the coronavirus.  The new extended hours are 7 AM to 2 PM. Members will be picked up individually. Appointments are needed.

Appointments are made one week in advance, call Mimi 516. 922.6422. Volunteers drive residents for medical, dental, and social service appointments.  A suggested donation of $0.55 per mile is requested. Covers the local area, door-to-door.

Nassau NICE bus fare is 1/2 price for seniors 60 or older. Proof of age is needed.  A reduced-fare MetroCard may be purchased.

LIRR and Metro-North, NYC bus, trains, subways. Half-fare or reduced fare available for disabled and senior citizens 

LogistiCare, call 1.844.678.1103  Seniors and disabled with Medicaid who are unable to use the fixed route system.  Drivers pick up members at their home.
