The Library - (Nassau Library System)
A useful website which lists participating libraries throughout Nassau County that each offer unique free virtual programs to its patrons. Also check with your local library. You may join a book review, meet the author, learn to play an instrument, learn a new language, keep fit with yoga or aerobics, borrow ebooks, audio books, and find links to movies; all online! Selfhelp’s Virtual Senior Center- To help with Isolation
Selfhelp’s Virtual Senior Center reduces social isolation and loneliness among homebound older adults. The VSC is a senior center for homebound older adults. It allows members to participate virtually in exciting live classes, tour world famous museums, interact with peers, engage in wellness activities and expand their social network. Participants use their personal computer or tablet to log in to the VSC whenever they choose, review the calendar of activities and join whatever interests them. Virtual Volunteer Activities
Selfhelp’s Friendly Visiting and Telephone Reassurance: Become a participant who signs up as a volunteer to call homebound seniors, including Holocaust survivors. Volunteers enjoy conversation, activities i.e. drawing, listening to music together, computer games, etc. with older adults who are isolated and lonely.
