Worship Service: "Preserving Our Democracy," The Rev. Ned Wight
Sunday, November 11, 2018, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, 48 Shelter Rock Road, Manhasset, NY US 11030

This is the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I—now called Veteran’s Day. This is also the first Sunday after election day on November 6. Theoretically, urgent matters of war and peace, mass incarceration, climate change, immigration, economic policy—a host of pressing issues—are decided in the United States by a government “of the people, by the people and for the people.” Rev. Ned will reflect on the state of democracy in America and, consistent with our fifth UU principle, consider ways in which we might more effectively affirm and promote “the right of conscience and use of the democratic process in our congregations and in society at large.”
