After last spring’s hiring controversy and staff resignations at the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), some UU leaders organized a “UU White Supremacy Teach-in” and urged UU congregations around the country to suspend their regular Sunday programming to participate. The phrase “White Supremacy” stirred up considerable feelings, doubts and questions. Rev. Ned will explore the implications of this phrase—why it was chosen and what realities it attempts to describe in our culture as a whole and, more specifically, within our UU congregations and the Association to which we belong. He will describe our shared commitment to dismantle racism and chart options for moving forward on our journey to fulfill that commitment.
