Congregant Claudia Barbey helps Rewild students pull a massive porcelain berry plant from an area at UUCSR recently planted with native plants. The students are participants in the summer youth program run by Rewild Long Island, a nonprofit group based in Port Washington working to encourage the planting of native plants that support pollinators. Porcelain berry is an invasive and exotic plant that can easily outcompete our natives unless Claudia and the Rewild interns lend a helping hand.
