Are you looking for a hands-on opportunity to be of service? Are you wondering how UUCSR will enact the Eighth Principle? This might be the opportunity you’re looking for. We’ve been invited to volunteer once a month in the Roosevelt Community Garden. We’ll have the opportunity to get to know local residents while helping to make their community garden an inviting and beautiful place. Our help would be welcome on the third Saturday of the month from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in such activities as weeding the common areas of the garden (not in any of the raised beds), maybe some planting to beautify those areas, and perhaps assisting with activities for the children. Spanish speakers would have the opportunity to help the non-Spanish speaking gardeners converse with their Latinx neighbors.

Where: Roosevelt Community Garden, 59 East Fulton Ave, Roosevelt, NY

When: Saturdays, April 22nd (Earth Day Celebration), May 20th, June 17th, July 15th, August 19th, September 16, and October 21st from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

What: Connect with people from the local community while offering help with the common areas of the garden.

How: Register at https://uucsr.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/1688093

Because of the size of the garden and the number of gardeners, we are limited to 10 volunteers at a time, so first come, first served.
