2018 Music Sunday

Stephen Michael Smith, Music Director

Music has been intertwined with sacred practice and observance through the ages. At the core of drumming, tolling of bells, and chant (to cite just a few examples) is a simple, repetitive rhythm. We will experience the transcendence of repetitive rhythm in two very different works sung by the UUCSR Choir: the Congolese Missa Luba and the music of contemporary minimalistic mystic, Arvo Part, in his acclaimed masterwork, In Principio. All donations support the Edward Miller Memorial Music Scholarship to benefit Nassau County High School seniors furthering study of music in college.
