Music Programs at Shelter Rock

The Choir
The Choir is a vital part of the music ministry here at Shelter Rock. Led by our Music Director, Stephen Michael Smith, the choir is a volunteer group supported by four professional section leaders. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. The music is chosen to enhance the worship experience, the theme of the service, and the mood of the moment. Music Sunday, an annual service led by the choir, is a highlight of the program.

Music and Religious Education
The Religious Education Program also has an important place for music. Music is introduced as part of the curriculum in the lower grades by Danielle McRoy, our RE Music Specialist, who leads the Young People's Choir, a group for children in grades three through six. Rehearsals are in the Chapel Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM.

Instrumental Groups
The Shelter Rock Jazz Orchestra is co-directed by Frank Doyle, a professional musician and music teacher, and Bobby Perina, also an accomplished musician. The Jazz Orchestra accepts all youth who can play any musical instrument, just as long as they keep the beat, smile and express themselves freely. Rehearsals are in the Music Rehearsal Room Sunday mornings at 9:45 AM.

Music at Shelter Rock Events
Several times during the year we present Sunday afternoon concerts at Shelter Rock. We try to bring quality music of many different styles to our Worship Room for the enjoyment of members and others from the surrounding community. Current schedule
